What creators produce with this tool

  • Record and edit a podcast with several voices, cut the pauses and master it to −16 LUFS.
  • Arrange a song from separate takes, line them up on a BPM grid and balance volume and pan per track.
  • Clean up a voice recording: remove mains hum, soften harsh S sounds and even out levels.
  • Make a quick rough split of a song into vocals, drums, bass and other for practice or a remix sketch.
  • Master a finished mix for Spotify, YouTube or Apple Music and export it in the format you need.

About Audio Workstation

Online DAWMultitrack Audio EditorRecord Audio Online

A free DAW that runs in your browser

Most audio workstations need a large download, an account or a subscription. ToolBuddy's online DAW opens in a browser tab: add audio files or start an empty project, and you get a timeline with track headers beside each lane, a player bar with transport and meters, and a Control Panel for track, clip, effect and master settings.

Everything runs on your device with the Web Audio API, and your project is saved in your browser's private storage so you can pick up where you left off.

Edit multitrack audio with familiar tools

Six editing tools (select, envelope, draw, zoom, time shift and multi-tool) cover everything from rough arranging to sample-level fixes. Move clips between tracks, trim their edges, split at the playhead, join clips, add fade-ins and fade-outs with linear, exponential or logarithmic curves, and snap edits to a beat grid.

Desktop-style menus and keyboard shortcuts make repeat work fast, and every edit can be undone.

Effects, cleanup and analysis

Open any of 18 effect dialogs with live preview, from EQ and compression to reverb, noise reduction and pitch or speed change, or build a per-track chain with a parametric EQ, compressor, de-esser, hum removal, noise gate, reverb and delay.

Check your audio with the frequency spectrum and clipping finder, detect and cut silent gaps, and use Clean up voice for a one-click dialogue pass.

Record, generate and split

Arm a track and record from your microphone with a metronome, or generate tones, sweeps, DTMF dial tones, noise, silence, a rhythm track or a plucked string.

Need a quick idea of a song's parts? Stems makes a fast filter-based split into vocals, drums, bass and other, each on its own track, ready to mute, solo or export.

Master and export without watermarks

Normalize the whole mix to −14 LUFS for streaming, −16 LUFS for podcasts or −23 LUFS for broadcast, and keep peaks under control with the limiter.

Export the mix as WAV, MP3, FLAC, OGG or M4A, choose bitrate, bit depth, channels, sample rate and range, or download every track on its own. The default export matches the format of the audio you imported.

When another audio tool fits better

For single-file quick trims, the Audio Trimmer provides a lightweight workflow; to join several files back-to-back, use the Audio Joiner. To level a single track without multi-track mixing, use the Audio Normalizer, and to batch-convert audio files, use the Audio Format Converter.

FAQ

Common questions.

Have more questions? Reach out via our contact page and we will respond within 24 hours.

Is my audio uploaded to a server?

No. The workstation decodes, plays, edits, processes and exports audio in your browser with the Web Audio API. Your files never leave your device, and there is no account or watermark.

What can I do on the multitrack timeline?

Record from a microphone, add any number of stereo or mono tracks, move clips between tracks, trim and split them at the playhead, join clips, add fades with different curves, draw volume changes with the envelope tool, and add label tracks.

Which effects are included?

Gain, fades, noise reduction, paragraphic and 10- or 20-band graphic EQ, compressor, normalize, limiter, echo, distortion, reverb, audio repair (hum and sibilance), pitch and speed change, remove silence, reverse, invert, amplify, vocal reduction, auto-duck and high- and low-pass filters. Each track also has its own effect chain.

Can I split a song into stems?

Yes, as a quick rough split. Stems divides a track into vocals, drums, bass and other using frequency filters and centre-channel separation on your device. It works best for practice and sketches rather than clean studio stems.

How does loudness mastering work?

The Master tab measures your mix and normalizes it to −14 LUFS (streaming), −16 LUFS (podcasts) or −23 LUFS (broadcast). You can also apply a limiter or normalize to a peak level from the Effects menu.

Which formats can I import and export?

Import WAV, MP3, OGG, FLAC, M4A or AAC files, or record from your microphone. Export the mix or each track as WAV (16, 24 or 32-bit), MP3 (128 to 320 kbps), FLAC, OGG or M4A, with no length limit.
