Sprite to 3D Mesh Converter

Reconstruct a textured 3D mesh from a multi-angle spritesheet by silhouette carving, with a measured match score against your sprites and verified watertight output.

Select or drop a multi-angle spritesheet

Rebuild a coloured 3D mesh from sprites seen from several angles, measured against your sprites, then reduce it and export GLB, OBJ, STL or PLY. Drop one sheet, a set of frames, or a ZIP from the 3D to Sprite Renderer.

In-browser processing — files never leave your device.
Voxel carving at 64³, 96³, or 128³.
Vertex colours projected back from your sprites.
Measured match score and a watertight verdict before you export.

Tech specs

Input: PNG or WebP spritesheets with a transparent background, 4/8/16/32 directions. Output: GLB, glTF, OBJ, STL, PLY. Voxel grid: 64³, 96³, or 128³. Reconstruction is a visual hull — concavities no silhouette reveals cannot be recovered.

How to use

Check supported input/output details and follow the tool steps before exporting.

01

Drop a multi-angle spritesheet with a transparent background, a set of frames, or a ZIP from the 3D to Sprite Renderer, or try the sample.

02

Check the highlighted frames, or set columns, rows, order and directions.

03

Set the elevation, or click Find settings to match the camera to your sprites.

04

Click Reconstruct, then read the match score and the watertight check in the Control Panel.

05

Optionally reduce the triangles, then download GLB, glTF, OBJ, STL or PLY.

In-browser sprite to 3d mesh reconstruction

  • Runs entirely in your browser — files never leave your device.
  • The exact inverse of the 3D-to-Sprite Renderer, using the same camera convention.
  • Measures how closely the result matches your sprites instead of just claiming it does.
  • Verifies watertightness with the same diagnostic STL Repair uses.
  • Vertex colours back-projected from the sprites, weighted by how directly each view faces the surface.
  • Honest about the limit: a visual hull cannot recover what no silhouette shows.
🎯

Convert multi-angle 2d sprites into printable 3d meshes

  • Turn an 8-direction character spritesheet into a printable STL.
  • Recover a rough 3D mesh from retro game sprite rotations.
  • Convert a 2D concept turnaround into a real 3D asset.
  • Produce a 3D print from pixel art without sculpting it by hand.
  • Round-trip a model out to sprites and back to check a pipeline.

How to turn a spritesheet into a 3d model in your browserIn-browser sprite to 3d mesh reconstructionConvert multi-angle 2d sprites into printable 3d meshes

Slice the sheet, then carve

The grid is detected from the sheet's transparent gutters where it can be, and set manually where it cannot. The frames that will actually feed the reconstruction are highlighted in the preview, so a wrong direction count or frame order is visible before you carve rather than after.

Carving works by visual hull: every voxel starts solid, and each view clears the voxels that fall outside its silhouette. What survives every view is the tightest solid consistent with all of them.

See how well it matches

After reconstruction the finished mesh is re-rendered from each of your camera angles and compared against the original sprite silhouettes. The result is a percentage, per view and averaged, with specific advice when it is low — a poor score almost always means the elevation, direction count, or frame order does not match the sheet.

A high score means the model reproduces the views you supplied. It cannot speak for surfaces no silhouette revealed: a cup's interior, a deep fold, or any concavity hidden from every camera is unrecoverable from silhouettes alone, at any resolution.

Verified, coloured, and ready to export

Colours are back-projected from the sprites onto the mesh's vertices, weighted by how directly each view faces the surface, so a grazing angle does not smear a silhouette edge across the model. Vertices no view could see are left mid-grey and counted.

The result is checked for watertightness and manifoldness with the same diagnostic the STL Repair tool uses, so the printability claim is verified rather than assumed. Export as GLB or PLY to keep the vertex colours, or OBJ and STL for geometry alone.

FAQ

Common questions.

Have more questions? Reach out via our contact page and we will respond within 24 hours.

Do my files upload to a server?

No. Reconstruction runs entirely in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.

Will the 3D model match my images exactly?

It reproduces the views you supply — the tool measures that and shows you the score. What it cannot recover is any surface no silhouette reveals, such as a hollow interior or a deep fold; that is a limit of silhouette carving, not of this implementation.

How many directions do I need?

At least two, and realistically eight or more. More directions tighten the hull; four gives a rough shape, sixteen or thirty-two gives a close one.

Do my sprites need transparency?

Yes. The silhouette is read from the alpha channel, so a flat colour background will not work.

Why does my result look distorted?

Almost always the elevation angle does not match how the sprites were rendered, or the direction count and frame order do not match the sheet. The match score and its advice will tell you which.

Is the output printable?

The tool verifies watertightness and manifoldness with the same diagnostic STL Repair uses, and shows the verdict before you export.

Can I make the model lighter?

Yes. After rebuilding, set Keep triangles and click Reduce triangles; the shape is simplified within a small error limit and the colours are kept.
